The Brockville Road Runners annual Brock Trail 5K was run under overcast but dry conditions on Sunday morning. A feature of the event was the addition of a special Seniors (55+) overall category. This was made possible by a special grant made to the club from the legacy fund resulting from the Ontario Seniors Games Winterfest 2007 held in Brockville last year. (Brockville recently made a
bid to host the 2010 National Seniors Summer Games.)
Winner of the men’s open 5K was Kyle Milks in 16:09, while the women’s winner was Paula Wiltse in 17:20. The Seniors overall men’s winner was Tony Dunbar in 20:07, while Anne Hodgson in 32:06 captured the Senior women’s winner trophy.
A big thank you to Vincent Guyonnet, who with the assistance of Cynthia Laforty, organized and directed this very successful event. All was accomplished as always with a great crew of volunteers and helpers, including our friends at St. John Ambulance. A special thanks also to Tamara Baldwin-McNamee of Cranks Bicycle Shoppe for the draw prizes and also for the special prizes for the Fun 2 Run prediction winners. We are also very grateful to Burnbrae Farms for the eggs.
