Fall Trail 1K/5K Run

A beautiful Fall day greeted the good contingent of runners, young and old, who gathered at the Triangle Ski Club Chalet out at McIntosh Mills on the Thanksgiving weekend Saturday. They were there to participate in the 10th running of Christie Reitsma's Fall Trail 1K/5K run. As always, Christie had done a great job in organizing the event and was helped out by her Fun 2 Run parents and a few of the BRRC members. The 28 young runners eagerly waiting for the off - sounded for the first time by the new BRRC air horn! - were a sight to behold. The first female runner to finish the 1K was Joah Wiltse in 4:02, while Ethan Givogue in 4:46 was first male runner. For detailed 1K results click here 1K

The 1K run was followed by an open 5K, a run that qualified for Race Series' points. This run was won by Mike Crawford, fresh from his impressive 4th overall place run in the Picton half marathon. Mike covered the trails 5K in 18:30. Tom Marshall, a consistent top performer, was second in 18:41, with Pascal Peladeau taking 3rd place in 19:20.

First woman in 20:56 was Theresa Kauffman, visiting the area from Delaware with husband Lee. The young Kelsey Fitzgerald was second in 22:06, with Bree Peladeau coming in 3rd in 22:34. After the 5K, all present, runners and supporters, were treated to hot chocolate, coffee and treats, while run winners were presented by Christie with prize pumpkins.

Christie also availed of the occasion to present special awards to those who had completed another very successful summer Fun 2 Run programme, organized and directed in her enthusiastic and inimitable fashion by Christie herself.
