Introduction:

August 2021

We now welcome Stephanie Dunbar, 51, to our growing portfolio of runner profiles.

Stephanie is another keen and enthusiastic runner who has yet to enter a formal race.

Such runners, usually busy women, are much to be admired for their dedication to running.

They get out consistently putting in the kilometres, often in the very early hours of the morning as Stephanie does.   And this without the extra motivation of an upcoming race or event to prepare for.  As Stephanie says, running is her ‘air’.

We certainly hope Stephanie soon gets the opportunity  to race – maybe at TIP on October 16?

And It would be even nicer if she were to gain an award, as Stephanie says, “….. to show my grandkids someday”.

Many thanks Stephanie for your contribution.

Questionnaire:

Where are you from originally and what brought you to this area?

Born and raised Brockvillian and the other proud ‘Dunbar’.

How long have you been running?

I have been running faithfully for 4 years. I used to dislike it in school and now it’s my air.

Do you run for fun or competitively?

I run for fun but wouldn’t mind a badge or ribbon to show my grandkids someday.

Why do you run?

The easier question would be why would I not run? 🙂

Recent memorable running moment? Not necessarily in a race.

Beating my 5k avg pace and time because I was in a hurry to get back home to see my Grandson.

Best running achievement?

Being 51 and getting up and out of bed most mornings before the sun rises to get out there and start the day right

Greatest running disappointment ?

I wish I could run with others sometimes, but it seems to be solo for me and my iPod.

What is your favorite race distance? Why?

10 k because that’s my average in distance and if ever I do enter a race, I know I can finish it.

A notable race moment or most memorable race?

Have not participated in any formally.

Why did you join BRRC?

To be one with the running community and contribute to a great cause.

Ever been injured? How did it happen?

(knocking on wood) I am prone to shin splints but as long as I stretch before and after, I’m okay.

What does your daily or weekly workout consist of?

8k-12k 5-6x per week

Additional input or comments?

I admire others who run. It takes a special kind of discipline and self-motivation. Thanks to all organizers of the Brockville Road Runners. I enjoy the Facebook group.
